7 Things to Do at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, CO

In the town of Morrison, just 30 minutes southwest of Denver, you will find one of the most iconic concert venues – Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The amphitheater is a bucket-list venue for musicians from all around the world. However, going to concerts is not all you can do at Red Rocks. The amphitheater is full of events for locals and travelers. In this article, I will share about all the things to do at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Depending on the event and time of year you go, Red Rocks Amphitheater is great for date nights, friend outings, or family-friendly events. From a local, Red Rocks is one of my favorite places to visit for family-friendly activities in Denver.

1. Go to a Concert

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is one of the most famous amphitheaters for musicians to play at. The way the acoustics sound bouncing off the skyscraper rocks is like nothing else you’ve heard. The Beetles, U2, John Denver, Bruce Springsteen, and Tim McGraw are just a few big names that have played there, making the Music Hall of Fame. You can also find a 12-foot bronze John Denver “Spirit” statue just outside of Red Rocks Trading Post.

2. Film on the Rocks

Film on the Rocks is a summer series of classic movies at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Families and friends enjoy watching a movie on the big screen while snuggling up with blankets and stadium chairs. Film on the Rocks is an enjoyable experience at Red Rocks that is friendly on the budget. General admission is $20, and VIP seating is $35+. 3. Go Hiking

Red Rocks Amphitheater is also a popular area to go hiking. The family-friendly hiking at Red Rocks makes an especially fun outdoor adventure for parents with young children. Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks is an easy, 1.5-mile long loop with gorgeous views. Make sure to bring sunscreen and plenty of water, as Red Rocks is even higher in altitude than Denver, the mile high city – at a total of 6,450 feet.

4. Workout

From the spring to the fall seasons, you will find up to hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts running and exercising on the stairs at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Running back and forth on the 69 rows of stairs from the bottom to top equates to a 2.7-mile run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Strong, long-distant runners who run directly straight up from the bottom to the top always find a crowd clapping and cheering them on.

5. Yoga on the Rocks

As another workout at Red Rocks, this one gets its own section. Yoga on the Rocks is a ticketed event with live instructors and upbeat music. The stairs are lined with hundreds of yogis on mats, holding yoga poses while connecting with nature. To view tickets and pricing, visit Yoga on the Rocks.

6. Take Professional Photos

Red Rocks is a gorgeous location for professional photos. Whether you are a landscape photographer or a portrait photographer, Red Rocks Amphitheatre provides a natural essence for both. There are several great areas throughout the amphitheater to take professional photos for the family, graduation, engagement, and sports teams.

7. Go to a Graduation

Speaking of graduation photos, Red Rocks Amphitheatre holds graduations for some of the high schools in Jefferson County. Students receive their diplomas on the main stage with a crowd of their fellow students, family, and friends filling the stairs.
