My husband and I prefer travel experiences over physical gifts. As we planned our wedding, we realized neither of us was interested in home appliances and décor gifts. We already had a lot of home items – and the thought of receiving multiple toasters did not excite us. Also, I had never traveled out of the country and wanted to experience it for our honeymoon. That’s why, when I heard about how our wedding guests could help us fund our dream honeymoon with Honeyfund, we jumped right on it. This is my Honeyfund review.

First, let’s answer a question many people want to know…
Is Honeyfund Legit?
Yes, Honeyfund is 100% legit and a perfect registry for couples who already have enough household items. Honeyfund is better than just asking guests for money toward a honeymoon – it’s customizable to the things they are planning. Guests can fund honeymoon plans like a boat tour, wine tasting, couples massage, skydiving… you name it.
How Does Honeyfund Work?
It is easy to create a registry with Honeyfund and share it with your wedding guests.
Create an Account
Create a FREE account with Honeyfund in replace of a wedding gift registry. Share with your guests what you plan to do while vacationing in your dream destination (we chose cities in Europe – and as I mentioned before, I had NEVER been out of the country). Think about things you want to do during your dream destination – wineries, tours, cruises, dinner, flights, you name it. A few specific things we added to our registry were: Dinner in Florence, Guided Tour in Venice, Help us Get Out There (and back).

Share Registry with Your Guests
Share the link to your Honeyfund account with your wedding guests. Your guests will then choose which activities they want to fund as your wedding gift. Be specific with what you are planning. Doing so will get your wedding guests excited to fund the activity you have planned.
No Fees
The nice thing about Honeyfund (compared to other honeymoon registries) is that there are NO fees. When choosing an activity to fund, your guest will give you a check or cash with a printout of the activity they choose from your account.
Honeyfund Review
Thanks to Honeyfund and the generosity of our wedding guests, we were able to take our dream honeymoon to Europe. We spent time in Florence, Venice, Geneva, and a day trip to Chamonix.
Why We Chose Honeyfund
While reviewing our options for a honeymoon registry, we chose Honeyfund because there were no fees for our guests. For some registries, the couple wouldn’t get the full amount sent from their guests because of the fees or percentage that went toward the registry website. However, with Honeyfund, our guests could pay us directly instead of through the website.
The website was easy to navigate and allowed us to add personality to it. We added a message to our guests sharing why a dream honeymoon was more important to us than physical gifts for our home.
What Our Guests Thought of It
Our wedding guests enjoyed contributing to the different activities we planned for our honeymoon. It made them feel like they were a part of the planning with us.
One of the activities our guests funded was a day trip out to Chamonix, France (from Geneva, Switzerland) to visit the French Alps. This was a bucket list item for my husband – and I sure enjoyed it too. The top of the alps presented the most spectacular views.
As we wrote our thank you cards, we made it specific to what each guest contributed to. We also included photos in some of the cards.
Our Dream Honeymoon to Italy, Switzerland, and France
My husband and I got married in the month of April and took our honeymoon trip at the end of the month through the first week of May.
Italy
We spent our first 4 nights in Florence – this was our favorite city we visited.
We saw the famous Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the “Duomo.” We also visited the Statue of David, located in the Accademia Gallery.
The people were welcoming, and the food was excellent. The restaurants in Italy are all centered around Italian food – unlike in America, where we have food from all over.
Next, we took a train to Venice, where we spent 2 nights. The city is on several canals where you travel by boat to visit different areas. The food was very different from Florence. Their Italian food included different types of fish.
Switzerland and France
Next, we spent 3 nights in Geneva, Switzerland. The city was beautiful and very clean. In the mornings, we would walk around to notice that frequent street cleaning was done. Switzerland is known for its cheese fondue, so of course, we gave it a try. The cheese and dippings were delightful!
During one of our days in Switzerland, we took a bus tour to Chamonix, France which included a gondola ride up the Alps. This was something my husband really wanted to do. The top of the mountains was breathtaking and gorgeous.
Final Review of Honeyfund
I highly recommend Honeyfund to soon-to-be-married couples looking for the most incredible honeymoon. Honeyfund would replace a gift registry – so if you prefer experience gifts rather than gifts for the home, this is for you!
I hope you enjoy the most spectacular honeymoon. Create an account with Honeyfund – it’s simple and free!
